Research Agenda
John’s research interests include: leading organization transformation; leadership and management system design; and sustainable: high performance (triple bottom line - profit, people, planet). He is most interested in discovering and creating new ways to help leaders learn to design and transform organizations to create sustainable results for multiple stakeholders (investors, customers, employees, partners, society and the natural environment). Most of his current efforts are focused on the research agenda at the Monfort Institute at the University of Northern Colorado (Latham, 2008).
Current Projects
Leading the Journey to Performance Excellence: CEO Perspectives
This study is based on in depth interviews with 14 CEOs from Baldrige Award recipient organizations.
Status: Data analysis using NVivo8 Qualitative Data Analysis Software is complete. Currently writing the paper that describes the framework for leading sustainable transformation.

Design Methods, Practices and Considerations
Constantly working on developing better design methodologies using an action research approach. Integrating ideas and concepts from product and service designers, appreciative inquiry, systems thinking, social construction, into the process and framework for designing leadership and management systems. Design for Sustainability
