As an organization designer, researcher, and educator, I develop frameworks, methods, and tools to help leaders design, build and lead the organizations they really want and society needs. My experiences have ranged from my first adult job with the U.S. Air Force to Vice President for a $1.3 billion in-vitro diagnostics manufacturer with operations in over 40 countries to Director of the Monfort Institute at the University of Northern Colorado to Managing Partner of an international consultancy on leadership and organization design for sustainable excellence. Currently, the founder of the Organization Design Studio®, a digital learning and application lab helping leaders learn how to [re]design and [re]build the organizations they really want and society needs.
During the last 40+ years, I have enjoyed a wide variety of experiences working in and with commercial, non-profit, education, and government organizations in Europe, Asia, the Pacific Rim, the Middle East, and the Americas. My stakeholder-centered approach focuses on the multiple dimensions of organization design, including customers and products, operations and support, suppliers and partners, workforce, scorecard, governance, strategy, and leadership. My design work is informed by many disciplines, including systems theory and thinking, design thinking, organizational excellence frameworks, stakeholder theory, leadership theory, sustainability, anthropology, and the organization and country culture. Research and experience have produced frameworks, tools, and techniques to help leaders become organization designers. | blog | books | studio

I use various research methods, including quantitative, qualitative, and mixed, to produce insights into what works, what doesn’t, and under what conditions. | research | papers | presentations
